Our Story
The Nehemiah Project was born from a vision inspired by the Old Testament Book of Nehemiah — a story of restoration, leadership, and community rebuilding. In the scripture, Nehemiah witnesses the devastation of his people and responds with prayer, fasting, and action, committing himself to rebuilding what had been broken for the good of the community.

Moved by this passage, our founder undertook a three-day fast and emerged with a clear calling to establish a nonprofit organization dedicated to rebuilding communities through purpose, dignity, and opportunity. From that moment, The Nehemiah Project was formed.
At its core, The Nehemiah Project exists to rebuild and strengthen communities of color by restoring dignity, self-respect, and access to opportunity. We believe that meaningful, lasting change begins by investing in a community’s most valuable and vulnerable resource — its youth.
We are grateful for the opportunity to serve — guided by faith, strengthened by community, and committed to creating pathways for the next generation to thrive.
